Shakira Austin is the Mystics' leading scorer and first option, averaging 17 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 29.4 minutes across 43 games — 4th in the league in rebounding. Her game is built on rebounding (9.5 a game, top 3% of centers) and volume scoring. Where she falls short: turnovers (2.8 a game against 2.6 assists). She carries a heavy load — 26% usage, and the efficiency paid the price. High points: a season-high 31 points at the Fire on Aug 23, plus 20 double-doubles and 13 games of 20 or more. Low points: a 3-of-12 shooting night at the Liberty on Jun 14. Bottom line: a core piece for the Mystics, with turnovers the clearest room to grow.
